YOUR BOROUGH'S VISION
In June 2010, the Core Strategy was adopted and is the first document to be adopted as part of the Borough Council’s Local Development Framework. It is the overarching document that sets out the amount of development to happen in the Borough.

The Council considered recent announcements and changes to national policy made by the Coalition Government and in response it was decided that the Core Strategy should be reviewed immediately. The Core Strategy Review will consider:

•

Different approaches to housing numbers and density – including considering the capacity of previously developed land (brownfield land); counting windfalls (which are sites not identified through the planning policy process) and to consider implications for the Green Belt

•

Hawkhurst – is this settlement a suitable location for development?

•

Gypsy and Traveller pitches – how to identify the need

•

Special Landscape Areas – whether this designation should be retained
